DIOE Project: Training workshop on the coordination of national networks for waterbird count and data collection
As part of the MAVA-funded capacity building project for waterbird conservation and monitoring along the West Africa coastline (DIOE), Wetlands International Africa organised, from 19 to 21 November 2018, a training session on the coordination of national networks for waterbird census and data collection in Ndangane Sambou, in collaboration with NATAGORA, a Belgian NGO.
The training targeted structures and people in charge of coordinating waterbird census, including DIOEs in Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia and Guinea-Bissau, being the national coordinators of DIOEs and mangers of key sites.
Also participated in the training session resource persons or institutions involved in waterbird census at the country level. The training enabled participants to share their experiences, acquire new knowledge and become familiar with data collection tools, online databases as well as with the “Observation.org” platform and the data collection application “ObsMapp”
